Matthew 6:33 Seek
The Text:
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
The Thought:
To “seek the Kingdom of God above all else” means to put God first in your life, to fill your thoughts with his desires, to take his character for your pattern, and to serve and obey him in everything.
There is a Latin phrase, Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi, Lex Vivendi – in summary it means that as we worship, so we believe, so we live.
The question becomes …….. What/who do we worship? Our Netflix shows? Our phones? Ourselves? Do we believe Jesus is enough? More importantly: what does our life say we believe?
Too often we beg God to help us in the midst of our mixed-up priority order and wonder why He doesn’t or why our life still seems a mess. Where would our lives be if we were to put Him over all things in our lives, a lot of complications would fall away. If you’ve ever done this for one thing, you know what I’m saying is true.
The Takeaway:
The promise of this verse is that when you put your focus on God’s Word and His way of doing things first, all the other concerns of your life will begin to fall into place. You can then have the peace of knowing that you do not have to keep it all in order, God will.
Today, choose to put God’s Word and His Kingdom first. It might take some time before all your other things in your life all get aligned by God, but know that in time He will make sure that all the things you were concerned about are taken care of.
